Pack Your Bags

Here are some helpful suggestions to ensure you’re fully prepared for your trip to Punta Cana.
Travel Essentials
-
Passport (double-check it’s packed!) Must be valid during the duration of your stay (6 months recommended)
-
A photo or copy of your passport (paper or saved on your phone)
-
E-Ticket for you and your guest (Take screenshots and print out) https://eticket.migracion.gob.do/
-
Airline confirmation details
-
Travel-size toiletries in carry-on (in case of delayed luggage)
CASH FOR TIPPING
While tipping is not required, it is a thoughtful way to show appreciation. We recommend bringing small bills ($1s and $5s) to tip your bell staff, bartenders, servers, drivers, and excursion guides.
USD is accepted for tipping at the resort. For security purposes, we recommend bringing no more than $200 in cash.
MONEY FOR INCIDENTALS
The resort will require a personal credit or debit card at check-in for incidentals. A temporary hold may be placed on your card and released after checkout. A credit card is recommended.
For purchases at the resort or while exploring Punta Cana, we recommend using a credit card or Dominican pesos.
MEDICATION AND PERSONAL ITEMS
Be sure to pack any necessary medications and personal care items. (ibuprofen, allergy meds, Pepto, etc.)
-
If you sunburn easily, bring aloe vera.
-
If you’re prone to motion sickness, pack Dramamine - especially for boat excursions.
SUNSCREEN, BUG SPRAY, HAND SANITIZER
Sunscreen and bug spray are available at the resort but can be quite expensive (often $50–$60 per item). We strongly recommend bringing your own.
What to Wear
Be Sure to Pack
-
Swimsuits (more than one is helpful!)
-
Dinner outfits
-
Comfortable walking shoes
-
Excursion-appropriate attire (see the Excursions page for details)
-
Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, cover-ups)
Dinner Attire Guidelines
Resort restaurants are Resort Casual:
-
Men: Shirts required
-
Women: No swimwear
-
No flip-flops
-
No wet clothing from the pool or beach
You will not be admitted to restaurants if you are wet or in swim attire.
Footwear
Bring comfortable sandals or walking shoes for getting around the resort. Don’t forget appropriate footwear for excursions (water shoes, sneakers, etc., depending on your activity).
Electronics & Customs Considerations
The Dominican Republic has strict import regulations on electronics. Personal items such as one laptop, one camera, and cellphone are allowed duty-free.
We recommend limiting electronics to:
-
One laptop or tablet
-
One to two photography devices (e.g., phone + GoPro)
Excessive quantities/photography gear or high-end electronics may trigger import fees based on perceived value or commercial intent. We also suggest leaving expensive jewelry or luxury designer items at home.
Optional Additions You May Want to Include
-
Light sweater or hoodie (airports & planes get cold)
-
Change of clothes in carry-on (just in case)
-
Compression socks (optional but helpful on long flights)
-
Small backpack/beach tote for excursions
-
Portable phone charger
-
Waterproof Phone Pouch
Travelling
01
Arrive at the Airport Early
We recommend arriving at the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure for your international flight. Flight schedules, parking availability, gate assignments, and security wait times can change quickly, so plan accordingly. Check your local airport’s website for specific guidance.
Before you travel:
-
Complete your required Dominican Republic E-Ticket prior to checking in for your flight:
https://eticket.migracion.gob.do/ -
Have a copy (digital or printed) of your boarding pass.
-
We recommend obtaining a paper boarding pass, as you will need your flight number upon arrival in the Dominican Republic.
